I was pretty stoked to be a feature artist in the Versus 2012 exhibition at Mainland Regional Art Gallery, organised by The Roost Creative! Our brief was to only use two colours, red and blue, and their tones and mixes.

Maitland Regional Art Gallery will be a blaze with the battle of the pigments. I tried to create a harmony between red and blue and to create smaller works that joined to create one large work. The series took about 2 weeks full time and was a lot of work but in the end I was happy to look at them all together.

Prints will be in my shop soon too and the pieces from the exhibition that don’t find new homes.

This piece started out as a piece for my commercial folio but I ended up having a lot of fun with this one, combining two of my childhood loves, glitter and dreaming of being a fashion designer!

This couture dress is from the Dilek Hanif SS 2011 range. There’s a few more in the collection I want to draw too!

20 ‘Natalie’ limited edition prints are now available for loving homes in the shop! She is A3 is size, or 30 x 42 cm, including the white border. Printed using archival pigment inks on matte archival paper.

She was originally created for the Wes Anderson tribute show at Spoke Art.

I’m very excited to be a part of the upcoming group exhibition, I Want to be First, at Kat Von D’s Wonderland gallery!

Opening night is March 23rd, 7pm, 1257 North La Brea Avenue, West Hollywood.

Wonderland is celebrating the women who stand up and say, “I want to be first”. The concept is about not only embracing the empowered independent woman, but also spotlighting these female pioneers of the arts and sciences. It celebrates the driving creative force behind female artists and historical figures. Artists were asked to take their inspiration from the first woman who inspired them, or perhaps their own pioneering spirit.

My piece is called Contemplation. It plays on questioning ones life direction, what is important and how to get there. The dark background symbolises the solitude of these moments and the moth is a light of hope, a sense of having a gardian angel close by.

Started with a monochrome underpainting. Was great to focus just on light, shadow and form without the complication of colour.

I thoroughly enjoyed working on this little oil on canvas piece (approx 16 x 22 cm). I have been playing with oils on and off for the past few years, this it the first piece that has been finished! I think, with the other failed pieces, I started too large! I’ll slowly build up to larger pieces ;)

As you can imagine, I was over the moon to be asked by Iben Hoj to illustrate her new lookbook, following in the steps of other fashion illustrators, whom I greatly admire, that had worked with her in the past, including Erin Petson, Laura Laine and Tina Berning.

Prints of each of the three pieces are available individually or as a 3 pack in the shop at A5 size. I also have approximately 20 of the lookbooks which will go out with Iben Hoj prints until stock is gone.

Super happy to be a part of this show at NGV Studio. If you are in Melbourne before the 5th of Feb, pop in and have a look at all the decks. They are fantastic. The NGV Studio is in the Atrium, at Federation Square.

Looks like opening night was so much fun, wish I could have gone, maybe one day! It’s great seeing the photos of everyone getting in the spirit of the Wes Anderson theme!
