First Photos From Diana Mini Camera

Here are the images that actually worked, from my first two rolls of film. Most of them were either over / under exposed. I used the ‘B’ setting (leaves the shutter open for the length of time your finger is on the button) often, so my judgment of exposure time needs some fine tuning! They turned out okay for my first go I think. Much to learn and lots of room for improvement!  I used Fuji Superior Extra 400 speed film and have had them developed normally.

Baloons

Balloons in our back window. Trav (Maggie’s boyfriend) set them up for her birthday. So sweet!

CandleAndPlant

Maggie’s flowers from her birthday.

Charlie

Charlie Girl!

Charlie2

Charlie Girl… AGAIN! There will be lots of her hehe.

OutBedroomWindow

Looking out my bedroom window.

Scarlett'sShow

At the exhibition ‘Flirt” by Kate Lightfoot aka Scarlett. Not sure exactly what is going on here, but it looks interesting I think. Experimented here with the film wound forward a little and exposed three times.

ToiletMan

Toilet man… not explaining this one haha, the story is too long!

ViewFromOffice

The view from my office on St Kilda Road.

TramStop

My tram stop, number 96, looking towards the city. Had the focus on the wrong setting! Durr!

TramStop2

My tram stop again. And again, focus sent on wrong setting!

So, I look forward to taking more photos, it’s lots of fun :)

    Great photos!
a Lomo camera is on my wish list for too long now! (but hey! the holiday season is coming! so.. hopefully…?)
Funny, I was also sure the photos were taken in the US and I thought – well, it looks so much like somewhere around here (I’m near Adelaide)! so now at least I know you are a neighbor! :)

i love them! i think with lomo, its the imperfections which make the photos so great! i actually want to try using the wrong focus and exposure time now!
have you used the function where you can split the photo in half and have two exposures next to each other yet? xx

  8. These are awesome Bec!

Would you be interested in sharing your window view shots in one of my post series? I have only 2 photos from other blogs for “The View From Here”. The original post is here (http://theartofjordan.blogspot.com/2009/07/view-from-here-01.html) if you’re wondering what I’m talking about!

    Hey Hey :)
Thanks, glad you like! Yes, I see the dilemma indeed. The advantages of the Diana Mini include the ease of getting your hands on 35mm film and you can get it processed anywhere. I like too, that it is small, it fits in my bag and I can take it everywhere with me :) The CMYK special edition on is super cool though, it looks really awesome too. Hmmm, decisions decisions! IOt was easy for me cause I like little cute things :) Let me know what you decide! …X

Thanks Ian! They have all been taken in Melbourne, AU. I haven’t been to US but it is interesting to know that our roads and street traffic lights look US designed! One difference I know is, we drive on the left side of the road. Thanks heaps for the comment. Bec… XHey Hey :)

@SlowLane…. Thanks! You will love it when you get one :) I look forward to seeing some photos around Adelaide from you soon :) Funny, the street must look like a typical, generic street !! xo

@emma… yeh true, the imperfections make them interesting and unique. Hehe, yeh I guess the wrong focus ‘ain’t too bad, might do that more often. The film that I am picking up today has some images on it with the split frames. I think I forgot about that feature on my first go. Off to the city to pick them up now, and drop off a film to be cross processed…. that will be interesting, looking forward to seeing the results. xo@SlowLane…. Thanks! You will love it when you get one :) I look forward to seeing some photos around Adelaide from you soon :) Funny, the street must look like a typical, generic street !! xo

@ Gracie, you would have so much fun with one !!! There are heaps of other different lomo cameras too. I think I want another one already hehe. X
